Tata Medical Center (TMC) is a state-of-the-art tertiary cancer care hospital located in New Town, Kolkata, serving patients from Eastern India and neighboring regions. Established in 2011 as a philanthropic initiative and inaugrated by the Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Tata, TMC combines comprehensive oncology care with cutting-edge research and advanced diagnostic services.
The Department of Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics at TMC is a center of excellence for molecular diagnostics in hematological malignancies, Solid Tumours and Infectious diseases. Equipped with platforms for advanced molecular techniques like NGS, digital PCR, real-time PCR and basic genetic techniques like FISH, Karyotyping, Sanger Sequencing, real time PCR the department routinely performs comprehensive genomic profiling of tumours, minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring, infectious disease monitoring and translational research, supported by a strong academic ecosystem and international collaborations.
